The members of the Tyne Valley Line Rail Users’ Group have an interest in the rail service that runs from Newcastle to Carlisle. Some are regular rail users, some occasional users – would-be users and others, such as Parish Councils, have an interest on behalf of their communities. The group was formed in March 2000 with the twin aims of improving the service offered to passengers along the line and encouraging rail travel.
The group lobbies the train operating company (Northern Rail), Passenger Focus, Northumberland County Council, Cumbria County Council, the Tyne Valley Community Rail Partnership and others on all public transport issues.

Our successes to date include more trains stopping at Prudhoe, the first train to Newcastle now stops at the Metro Centre, music trains and improved publicity of ticket types. We continue to campaign, amongst other things, for more trains to stop at stations west of Hexham and for improved rolling stock.
